Relative time and life course research

چکیده
Mainstream life course studies often draw on a conventional understanding of time as unidirectional clock-based entity, which proceeds in uniform and linear manner. This paper argues that, order to understand the social, relational psychological processes change continuity that characterise processes, we need adopt more comprehensive explicit conceptualisation – goes beyond an absolute (linear, chronological, uniform) definition incorporate notion relative time. Drawing insights from narrative biographical research, discussions temporal embeddedness human agency multidisciplinary research perceptions perspectives, propose based three main characteristics: its multidirectional, elastic telescopic nature.
